Nature flourishes along the Severn. The river is a highway for all kinds of creatures and the air above it a flyway for thousands of species of birds.

You’ll find nature in places as unlikely as Avonmouth industrial area and under the M5. More freely, it pops up in garden hedgerows and farmers’ meadows.

If you’re patient, you might spot uncommon birds like the short-eared owl and protected reptiles like the great crested newt.

You might even find where the water voles hide.
