Ponds
The infilling and degradation of ponds has played a key role in the decreasing populations of the Great Crested Newt, a protected species. A Forgotten Landscape trained volunteers to survey both ponds and newt populations.
The gathered data helped to form a dynamic picture of how they were reacting to climate and environmental changes, and led to the creation of eleven ponds to help conserve and safeguard our local colonies of Great Crested Newts.
