Water voles are Britain’s fastest declining wild mammal and have disappeared from many parts of the UK due to the loss of suitable habitats and the rise of predators.

A Forgotten Landscape trained volunteers to monitor water vole numbers by surveying ditches and rhines – 66km altogether – and worked to restore their habitats by clearing 3.2 km of scrub.
