But we also play a significant part in the character and landscape of the area.
Farming, fishing, transport, bridge building, shipping, tourism and industrial activities have all helped to shape the area that we know today.
A Forgotten Landscape was interested in the cultural and natural heritage of the area – finding the balance between people and nature, so that this can be a place for everyone.
