Shaping the Landscape / Archaeology

Young Archaeologists at the Toot!

The volunteer survey team were pleased to host a visit from the Bristol and Bath Young Archaeologists’ Club over the summer holidays. The children and their families were taken on a tour of the site by project manager Rebecca Bennett, investigating the visible features, before having a go at geophysical survey to identify remains below the surface.

Despite the inclement weather, the group had a great time with some saying that it was the best session they had ever been to! The team are looking forward the YAC group joining us again for the community excavation next summer, when they’ll get an opportunity to get their hands dirty in one of our trenches.

The Young Archaeologist’s Club is for children between 8 and 17 to learn more about archaeology in their area and make new friends. If anyone would like to know more or get involved, please contact Julie Dunne or Nick Corcos.
