With its powerful tides, numerous pills, silt, mud and all plants and creatures that thrive in and alongside it, you might think that the River Severn alone has shaped the Lower Severn Vale Levels landscape. But people also play a significant part in the character and landscape of the area. Farming, fishing, transport, bridge building, shipping, tourism and industrial activities have all helped to shape the area that we know today.
A Forgotten Landscape is interested in the cultural and natural heritage of the area – finding the balance between people and nature, so that this can be a place for everyone.
